Agencies exist and do hire escorts. In the major cities, both the agencies and the escorts are licensed and pay business fees. Although they are regulated by the municipal bylaws, the agencies and the escorts can still be hit with prostitution charges. In particular, the agencies are vulnerable to the ‘living off the avails’ charge if it is shown that they are providing escorts for the purpose of prostitution.

That is why the agencies in Canada do not take a fifty percent commission as they do in the states. The agency fee (collected by the escort) is now about $60-$80 per date, regardless of the duration of the date. This is the service fee for connecting the client to the escort. A long time ago an agency was busted on the ‘avails’ charge and their fifty percent commission was a major factor in their conviction. Since then, agencies get their take from a straight service fee.

Escort rates are typically $250-$300 per hour. Multi-hour dates are very lucrative. Even so, not many in-demand, agency escorts gross over $100,000 annually. Its the model-type, independent escorts which may gross over $200,000 to $300,000.
